Battleship New Jersey

America’s most decorated battleship is now a fun-filled family attraction. Tours of the Battleship New Jersey are physical and require climbing and descending steep stairs or ladders, so you’ll want to be dressed in comfortable clothes with non-skid shoes. Exhibits of artifacts from the ship’s past are plentiful, but a good deal of the fun comes when you “enter into” the exhibit as you follow the tour route. Stretch out on the bunks where sailors slept, climb into the 16” gun turret to see how projectiles were loaded, and sit in Commander Admiral Halsey’s chair.

You’ll be amazed at the size of this battleship at nearly three football fields long and 11 stories high. Once inside and exploring, the immensity and complexity of one of the most impressive warships ever built is striking. An audio radio tour is available to take along with you and enthusiastic volunteer guides are stationed throughout to answer questions. Check out the Captain’s quarters, the barbershop, chow hall, anchor room, and even the brig. This floating museum is an actual piece of history that you won’t want to miss. As an extra perk, the views from the top deck are amazing!

A 4D Flight Simulator ride is available for an additional fee of about $5. The ride launches you off deck in a Seahawk prop plane for a dog fight over the island of Iwo Jima. Visit the Museum shop for a wide variety of souvenirs ranging from dog tags (loved by kids) to models to clothing. Souvenir photos are taken and offered for purchase.
