Hoover Dam

Experience the engineering masterpiece and historical landmark of the Hoover Dam. Built during the Great Depression, an extraordinary feat, the Hoover Dam was the tallest dam in the world at the time of its completion in 1935. It fulfilled the goal of disseminating the wild Colorado River through the dry Southwest landscape, fueling the development of major cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix.

It is an outstanding achievement not only for its enormous dimensions, complex design and intricate construction, but also for its illustration of man's outstanding ability to overcome the desert's summer sun, the dangers of a treacherous river, and the extreme hazards of great heights on the canyon's walls.

You’ll explore inside Hoover Dam, the visitor center with countless historical artifacts and displays and watch a movie on the remarkable making of the Hoover Dam. You’ll then enter the Hoover Dam powerplant where you’ll witness the inner-workings after a 70-second elevator ride takes you 530 feet down through the rock wall of Black Canyon. After your interior tour of the dam, you will have time on your own to take in this historical treasure. Take in the stunning views of Lake Mead, the world's largest man-made lake and the eastern edge of the chasm in Arizona. Before returning to Las Vegas you’ll visit a local park where herds of Bighorn Sheep often come down from the surrounding mountains to gather and graze on the sweet grass.

Adventure Photo Tours has been offering tours to the natural beautiful landmarks in the Southwest since 1998. What started as a small family business, has grown to a tourism company with 65 employees, a fleet of 30 vehicles and Nevada’s only four-time recipient of the Governor's’ Tourism Award. This tour includes lunch and unlimited bottled water and snacks.

Hours: Operates 365 days with combined parties of 6 or more.

Location: Complimentary pick up and return to all Las Vegas Strip and downtown hotels
