National Constitution Center

Spend an unforgettable few hours at the National Constitution Center, America’s first and only museum dedicated entirely to awareness and understanding of the US Constitution.

Located in Independence National Historical Park, the National Constitution Center focuses on three main exhibits and features more than 100 multimedia displays. Start your visit with Freedom Rising, a 360-degree live theatrical production performed in a 350-seat star-shaped theater. In 17 minutes you’ll explore the American quest for freedom from 1787 to the present.

Next up is The Story of We the People, a hands-on interactive exhibit featuring a rotating collection of artifacts. See a rare copy of the Emancipation Proclamation, try on a real Supreme Court robe, recite the Presidential Oath of Office and see yourself on the big screen, and learn about hundreds of everyday citizens who’ve shaped life in America, from Roger Baldwin to César Chávez to Fannie Lou Hamer.

In Signers’ Hall, walk among the Founding Fathers who added their name to the Constitution—as well as those who dissented—on September 17, 1787. The display of 42 life-size bronze statues includes familiar faces like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Alexander Hamilton. The exhibit recreates the final day of the Constitutional Convention in the Assembly Room of the Pennsylvania State House, which is now Independence Hall.

You’ll also have the chance to check out rotating special exhibitions, which have included crowd favorites like American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition and John Marshall: Patriot, Statesman, Chief Justice. Fun, hands-on activities from theatrical performance to trivia competitions occur daily, keeping everyone in your party entertained!

Location: Independence Mall, 525 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
Hours: Monday–Friday: 9:30am–5pm; Saturday: 9:30am – 5pm; Sunday: 12pm– 5pm
