Fort Mifflin
TOUR DESCRIPTION

History comes to life at Fort Mifflin, one of the only intact Revolutionary War battlefields and the only fort in Philadelphia! The National Historic Landmark encompasses 40 acres of land and 8 surviving buildings. The Fort is best known for withstanding the greatest bombardment of the American Revolution. Although the fort was ultimately captured by the British, who vastly outnumbered and out-armed the 400 men tasked with holding off the British army, they successfully kept the British at Bay while providing Washington and his troops time to arrive safely at Valley Forge and build up a strong army. Discover the history of the fort through daily tours led by period actors. You’ll also learn about the paranormal activity recorded at the fort and see planes flying low overhead as they land at Philadelphia International Airport.
